Designed by Charles and Ray Eames
Designed in 1950, this unique table is one of several modern classics that resulted from the Eameses experimentation with a mass-production technique for simultaneously welding wires. Practical in so many milieus, the Wire-Base Table gave Charles and Ray Eames the perfect place to serve chanoyu, the traditional Japanese tea ceremony, to special guests, such as sculptor Isamu Noguchi and film star Charlie Chaplin.

The table proved ideal for such occasions – as stong as koicha (thick tea), as light as usucha (thin tea). Today these lightweight, diminutive tables stand on their own, next to beds and chairs as an accompanying surface, or on top of each other in a convenient stack.
